Community and Neighbourhood Information
Acton is a small town,in Halton Hills, of about 10,000 people and is located about 20 minutes north of the 401 on Highway 25. Surrounded by Green space & Farms, Acton is an easy commute to Toronto, Mississauga, Georgetown & Guelph. Founded in 1844, the town's location was chosen because of it's proximity to good source of water power. Part of Acton's Charm is it's proximity to the Niagara Escarpment & various hiking trails including the Bruce Trail.
Main street has the charm of yester year & consists of quaint shops & restaurants including Cafes, Thai Restaurant, Florists, Delicatessen & Pubs.
Over recent years, Acton has seen new development and newer neighbourhoods built by Honeyfield, Finoro and Charleston Homes. These newer neighbourhoods create a family friendly community featuring homes with larger lots, front porches, park areas/soccer fields, as well as a small enclave of condominium Bungalow townhomes. The established areas of Glen Lea & Bovis neighbourhoods on the East side of town are close to shops and restaurants as well as the proposed Go Train Station (the Go Train is scheduled for early 2013 with hourly stops by 2016 from Kitchener through to Toronto). The Lakeview neighbourhood on the West Side of Town borders Fairy Lake & Prospect Park.
Often referred to as "Leathertown", if you are considering Buying a home in Acton, it is worth the drive and is a great Family Friendly Community.
