GEORGETOWN COMMUNITY INFORMATION & NEED TO KNOW

The Town of GEORGETOWN ONTARIO was established in the mid 1800's and was named after George Kennedy who was one of the initial settlers in the area.  It  is a community in the Town of Halton Hills and is located just north of the 401, approximately 60 Km from Toronto.  Georgetown with a population of approx 39,000, is the largest of the communities that make up the Town of Halton Hills which also includes Acton, Glen Williams, Norval and Stewarttown.

Nestled on the Banks of the Credit River, Georgetown is a tight-knit community with much to offer, including fine Restaurants, Quaint Shops and Boutiques, Library, Theatre, Successful Sports Teams, Excellent Hospital & Healthcare, Hiking Trails, recoginized Schools, a great community spirit & an expanding Transportation System with the Go Train proposed to have hourly service from Toronto through to Kitchener within the near future.

Georgetown itself is comprised of several neighbourhoods and if you are interested in buying a home you will find below some valuable real estate information.

THE PARK AREA: One of Georgetown's oldest neighbourhoods this well established & much sought after area is a short stroll to the Fairgrounds and the Olde Downtown core offering quaint Shops, Boutiques, Restaurants, Library and The George Elliott Theatre. When looking to buy a home in the Park Area you will find century homes, new builds and bungalows - all set on larger lots.

DELREX: At one time, much of the area was orchards and now this mature neighbourhood offers tree lined streets with a variety of Bungalows, sidesplits & two storey homes.

MOORE PARK: Another mature neighbourhood established in the early 1960's

STEWART'S MILL: Homes Built by Fernbrook & Great Gulf with a 5 Acre Community Park & Pond which is a favourite of the various soccer clubs for games & competitions.

GEORGETOWN SOUTH: In 1989 Georgetown South was established by various Builders including Fernbrook, Great Gulf Homes, Canada Homes, Remington, Double Oak, Tribute Homes and over the years, has seen continued but limited growth.  One of the more recent developments was the Halton Hills Village Mall providing a Metro,  Liquour Store, Bank, Child Care, Restaurants & Shops and more.

ARBOUR GLEN: Surrounded by Woodlot & Greenspace this quiet enclave of Mattamy built homes is a short walk to the Olde Downtown Core

DOMINION GARDENS & SEED HOUSE LANE:  Located close to the Super Centre, Splashpad & Schools, this Townhouse development is centrally located.

STEWART MCLAREN, PALOMINO TRAIL & RIVER RUN TOWNHOMES: This neighbourhood is comprised of Townhomes varying in size and price with some homes offering magnificent views of the Credit River and the historic Barber Paper Mill.

CACHET HILLS: Located between Georgetown and Glen Williams this quiet neighbourhood built by Cachet Homes offers Old Ontario Style Homes with front porches and balconies and the area itself provides a wonderful community park and a butts a hiking trail system from which you can hook up to the Bruce Trail.

GLEN WILLIAMS:  Is a small Hamlet and the Credit River Runs through it.  The Main Street is home to the Glen Oven Bakery, Copper Kettle Pub, Reeve & Clarke Bookstore, The Williams Mill which is home to various artisans & soon a restaurant & don't forget the Beaumont Mill Antiques & Collectables Market.  You will find tree lined streets of older homes as well as the newer developments which include Meadows of the Glen & Bishops Court.
